George Wilcox papers, 1876-1926.

Letters to and from a New York City and Madison, Connecticut, lawyer and investor. The collection includes letters to his wife "Mollie" Grenelle Wilcox and to his daughter, Constance, as well as bills to him for Constance's enrollment at the school of Mrs. and Miss Burt in Brooklyn, New York, and later at Bryn Mawr. A significant number of letters are from George's nephew Ansley Wilcox of Buffalo, New York, primarily about their investments, in particular the Wilcox & Gibbs Guano Co. of Savannah, Georgia. Other business and investment letters are from Charles Frederick Hayerman of Detroit, Michigan; Wilcox & Bull; Lomas & Nettleton of New Haven, Connecticut; George P. Sawyer of Buffalo, New York; and from Michigan the Pioneer Bank, A. Middleton and E.A. Ferrier. There are also a significant number of bills from businesses in both New York City and Madison; in fact, they shopped at Sack's Fifth Avenue and Lord & Taylor.
